Maserati unveiled to wide applause at the April 2017 New York International Auto Show a 450-vehicle special-edition iteration of its acclaimed Ghibli sports car, to be produced and available for discriminating driving palates in the US and Canada. And dubbed Ghibli Nerissimo, the roadster, appearing in Ghibli, Ghibli S and Ghibli S Q4 trims with striking, limited-edition center-console badging, showed itself to be a veritable beast to prowl the segment's fold.

Atop the car's sizable, Glossy Black-finish, 20-inch Urano wheels, behind its sleek black door handles, window trim and grille accents, and under an extended, red-stitched, black-leather interior with INOX sport pedals and a Dark Mirror interior trim all but screaming sport prowess, Maserati Ghibli Nerissimo houses a contender. It's a Ferrari-built, Twin Turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine to own road and track alike, shelling out 404 horsepower, paired with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission showcasing a Start & Stop function that enables nigh seamless gear shifts thanks to easy-access paddles.M/p>

Factor in Maserati’s agile-handling Q4 intelligent all-wheel drive, standard blind spot assist, front and rear parking sensors and remote start, with Ghibli S and S Q4 trims adding a premium Harman Kardon stereo system to create an entertainment world apart on top of it all, and Maserati Ghibli Nerissimo has all the makings of a driving blast. And one can surely expect one, given Nerissimo's ability to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in as little as 4.7 seconds, eventually reaching a top speed of 176 mph.

Needless to say, we at Jim Ellis Maserati sure hope to get our hands on one of these babies.
